Giza Pyramids: Complete Visitor Guide
Everything you need to know before visiting the last surviving wonder of the ancient world
About Giza Pyramids
The Giza Pyramid Complex is the most iconic archaeological site on Earth. Built over 4,500 years ago during Egypt’s Old Kingdom, the three great pyramids β Khufu (Cheops), Khafre, and Menkaure β stand as a testament to ancient engineering genius. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, at 138.5 metres tall, was the tallest man-made structure on Earth for over 3,800 years.
Visiting the Giza Plateau from Cairo International Airport takes approximately 35β45 minutes by private car. Most visitors combine the pyramids with the Great Sphinx, and optionally a visit to the Solar Boat Museum. Half a day is sufficient for a good visit; a full day allows you to explore the interior chambers, camel rides, and the panoramic desert viewpoint.
