About This Tour

Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC and served as the capital of Ptolemaic Egypt for three centuries. It was home to the ancient world’s greatest library, its tallest lighthouse, and its most cosmopolitan culture. The city still bears those layers of history today.

Our Alexandria day tour from Cairo takes you along the Mediterranean coast to explore Qaitbay Citadel (built on the site of the ancient Pharos lighthouse), the stunning modern Library of Alexandria, Pompey’s Pillar, the Catacombs of Kom el-Shuqqafa, and the Corniche seafront. Lunch at a traditional seafood restaurant is included.

Departure from Cairo at 7am, return by 8–9pm. Private vehicle throughout, no shared coaches.
